登录入口’s softball team loaded on a bus after a brief rally by the college’s students, faculty and staff on Friday, and headed off to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Region 14 Tournament in Bossier City, Louisiana.

No. 2-seeded GC (19-5 conference, 30-12 overall) will take its South Conference co-championship for a spin against Tyler Junior College (16-8, 36-16), the No. 3 seed, in the opening game of the regional tournament on Saturday at noon, at the Cavalier Softball Field, located on the Bossier Parish Community College campus.

“We had a great send-off by our college community and we’re looking forward to starting the regional tournament,” said GC Head Softball Coach, Kelly Raines. “We have a talented group of players who have worked hard all year, and I’m proud of what they have accomplished this season. At the regional tournament, all the teams start over with the same record, and we’re excited to get the second part of our season going on Saturday.”

The winner of the GC-TJC matchup will take on the winner of the game between Trinity Valley Community College (20-4, 48-10) and Alvin Community College (11-13, 24-28). TVCC是第十四区北区冠军。 The losing teams of the first two matchups will face each other in a different bracket.

Last season, the Whitecaps won a share of the South Conference title and claimed the regional championship to advance to the NJCAA D1 World Series, where GC capped off an amazing run, finishing fifth in the nation.
